AGLOCO Vision

Hello everyone, this is Srikanth. I have not posted on my own here for awhile but I thought I’d write one sharing my personal thoughts on the payment program discussed in the last post (there will be another post with answers to questions made in comments which should be out this week – and written by others).

It’s been a little while since I moved away from the blog to work on some new revenue deals. I hope you are as pleased with

Ask.com

as we have been – they are far and away the best partner for

AGLOCO

at this time.

I had some thoughts after seeing the reaction to our last post on Member Distributions. As was expected, some people liked what we had to say, recognizing that

AGLOCO

is slowly but surely building a sustainable business. Still, some thought the payouts were too low. And, if these were the payout values for every month going forward, I might agree. But, these values are only the beginning. As

AGLOCO

becomes more profitable, the value of future months’ hours will grow and the time frame in which

AGLOCO

pays will shrink.

I like to keep in mind that we are trying to have

AGLOCO

do exactly what we said it would: create a fair system on the internet where Members

get paid

for what their activity is worth. The simple fact is that Members’ activity in June, July, and August did not

generate very much revenue for AGLOCO

, and there is no free lunch. As Member surfing becomes more valuable (i.e.

generates more revenue for AGLOCO

),

payouts will increase in turn

.

Actually,

AGLOCO

is doing MORE than what it promised.

AGLOCO

always said that it would pay Members when it become profitable. If

AGLOCO

was going strictly by this model, June, July, and August hours would be worth nothing. Still, we know that early Members spent time building the community and thought they should get something for their early surfing hours. So we devised a method to achieve that with the Residual Payments.

Part of this is

AGLOCO

’s responsibility for at first having (frankly) mediocre revenue deals for Members to capitalize on. But that’s where the

Ask

deal comes in. As promised, we are

building our revenue sources

so that Member activity can become more valuable. We’re gaining momentum and coming much closer to profitability with every month that passes. As we’ve said in previous emails and posts, this will be a process that takes time. Soon, not only will we have

revenue coming from search and from ads

, but

we will continue to build our revenue sources wherever money is made from your surfing all over the internet

. And, we will build the functionality of the

Viewbar and add tools

to help the community grow.

I wish this process would move faster, but in order for

AGLOCO Members

to get the lions share of the company’s value, we had to (at least for now) give up on venture capitalists. This means we have been running on a very lean budget with limited resources (with a development team still working for free, only the tech team and Member services are

paid

). Once we become profitable, we will have a much better ability to expand our investment in making these improvements.

It is very normal for startup companies to have months or years without profitability (we are still a young company -

ask google or facebook

how long it took them to have their first profitable month). Looking conservatively at our finances (and given the fact that we expect to earn more money as time goes on – if we don’t, the company will go under), it turns out that the best way to provide Members with the most value at this point is to defer some of the value of their payment to a time in which our most conservative projections expect we will have the funds to pay it (personally, I found 10 years to be a bit too long, but I was outvoted by the folks who had just spent three straight days with the budget numbers).

Also remember that the

monthly payments

in this payout system will stack over time. Combined with the fact that we expect the value of each hour to increase as time goes on, and the

payouts can eventually get quite large.

Since I wrote many of them, I encourage you to go back and read what we wrote about Member distributions in the past (for example, here and here). We’ve been quite consistent in saying that

AGLOCO

will pay when it is profitable and that the process of building revenue is one that will take time (until which, payouts would start out modest and build). Most importantly, we maintain that AGLOCO is NOT a

“get rich quick”

scheme. If you are looking for a scheme that pays something for nothing, then perhaps

AGLOCO

is not for you. We talk about AGLOCO’s value proposition in several old posts. In order to pay real money to real people, that

money has to come from somewhere.

Your

surfing needs to earn money

for the community. Your referrals’ surfing needs to

earn money for the community

. It doesn’t just materialize out of thin air. Those Members

who are going to join AGLOCO in success

are the ones who realize that it is just now laying the foundation, and that it will take time to build a sustainable

revenue stream.

And, as discussed,

AGLOCO

may be developing the ability for Members to trade hours. Then, Members who want the full value of their hours up front can trade them on the open marketplace to other Members who are willing to. We are still looking for more feedback on that issue.

Just another one-off thought. I read some comments that seemed to assume we would have

a $100 minimum payout.

This is not the case. While we will specifically contact

those Members who earned $100

from June, July, and August hours (kudos to those of you in this category), I anticipate that the minimum payout will be between $10-$30, though AGLOCO has not set a firm value yet.

We’ll write another post within the week addressing your questions from this blog, but I wanted to my thoughts on Member distributions. Until then, keep using that Viewbar and the Ask.com search function - the more you do, the more

AGLOCO

can make for you!

Get Paid to Surf the Web :Ask.com search is active

Update - September 25th 7:18 pm
The

AGLOCO

site will be down for about 4 hours of regular maintenance and some upgrading during the next 24 hours. A “down for maintenance notice” will be on the site.
Update - September 24, 7:55 pm
Quick note – we will be doing the distribution post very soon. I had hoped to have it done by the 25th, but in order to give exact distribution amounts for June, July and August hours we needed a couple more days to analyze the hourly data. Hopefully, exact distribution amounts will be worth waiting a couple of extra days for.
Original post

Revenue

– As we posted previously, we completed a major revenue partnership.

AGLOCO

is excited to announce that

Ask.com will soon become AGLOCO’s official worldwide default search provider

.
First, we have been very impressed with

Ask.com’s desire to be in business with the AGLOCO Membership.

(We feel that business works best when both parties want to work together.) More importantly,

we are impressed with Ask.com’s search performance

.

According to the August 14, 2007 report, of the University of Michigan’s American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), Ask rates right with Yahoo and Google in customer satisfaction - Ask 75, Yahoo 79 and Google 78.

Also, ForeSee Results added that,

“Ask has had the biggest increase over time of any e-business company measured by the ACSI, up 21% since it was first measured… Ask.com seems to be well-positioned to rival Google in the coming years because it has a strong search technology lauded by analysts and users alike.”

We will be

adding Ask to the Viewbar

in the next couple of weeks and we hope you enjoy the results as much as we have.
This is a very important step for

AGLOCO and will greatly improve of revenue

starting in October. Many of us have been using the Ask.com search system this last month and agree with the comment above that it is equal to and sometimes more helpful than

Google

. So we hope

Members are as equally enthusiastic about Ask as we are

.
Tech Update - Since moving the servers and fixing crucial items like hour displays, the tech team has since been occupied by installing the

Ask.com

system. The tucows download problem has also been fixed. We know we need updates to the website – they have not made the top of the list yet.
Media – Mike Klingler has a full written transcript of his interview with Brian. Mike and other Members have worked to make this available to all Members in several languages at: Click here to listen to the interview. Click here for written transcript
Member distributions – We will be doing a Member distribution post within the next two weeks with an update of this crucial issue. It will also include an

update of the AGLOCO financial position.AGLOCO crossed over the 1,000,000 Member mark a couple of months ago. And while not the 10,000,000 surge we had set as our summer goal, it is still a fine achievement that you all have made happen.

If you missed the previous post on distributions, you can read it at Member distributions
Thanks for all of your efforts for AGLOCO.

Part of the Ask.com project has been released. This is the Ask.com search ability.
We have noticed that the Google and Ask icons were reversed – we will correct that – it may take a couple of days before you see the correction on your Viewbar.

Thanks for the notes on the main site - the engineers are back working on it. They did a ‘fix’ about 24 hours ago. Obviously it solved the problem only temporarily. I know it can be frustrating – Wikipedia was down for a while yesterday just when I needed and it was frustrating. The spike in traffic we get when we send out emails has only made it worse - jams it so that many of the people trying to get in can not. We did add extra servers when we moved last month and we are scheduled to have four more on line this month. I will update when I hear more.

Carmen - thanks for the note on tucows - the 404 problem is internal to their site. They are a 10 year old public company - which is why we picked them. They have been having problems now for two months with servers etc. They have fixed this before. So this should resolve itself. In the meantime, it puts extra pressure on our site as all downloads are coming off our servers and the session times are long when Members have slow connections and are downloading. This is adding to the pressure from the people checking their accounts due to the recent Member email. All works to make

agloco.com

hard to access right now. Among the tech projects to add when the ask.com software is completely installed will be to add an additional download supplier.
***Below is an interesting comment that was made yesterday which we found fun to read. We have posted part of it here…..
If there is one thing we have learned so far about

agloco - it is not a scam - they send no spam - they cause no spam - the viewbar is easy to install

, takes up little room and has a handy search window with eight different search engines in it. And the people on the

agloco team page are real people.

We have learned that

agloco said it will distribute money to members

when it has money (meaning profits) - and they have consistently not made any promise as to the date that might happen - so people complaining that after 90 days of having some free software on their computer that they have not been paid are complaining about expectations they have made on their own. (As far as I know, there is no free software that pays people to use it anywhere else.)
We have learned that agloco said they

it was NOT ‘a get rich quick scheme’

and that it would take time to build it out.
We have learned that some members who got TOO excited at the beginning are now unexcited.
We have learned that agloco has

over 1,000,000 members and is still growing at 5,000 a day.

We have learned that pushing and demanding things from agloco does not seem to work - but when a large number of members seem to AGREE on an issue it gets addressed - like fixing the hours or the slowness of the site – or with Windows 98 saying that it is on the list to address.
WHAT WE HAVE YET TO LEARN is will

agloco be a financial success

for it members? For those of us who have gotten involved as long as 6 months ago, we sometimes get impatient. Some of us see the huge potential of the idea behind agloco and want it to succeed as quickly as possible. We have learned that Google had a long term plan - it took Google 4 years before having any income — and agloco is also a start up with a long term plan.
I hope those of you reading the blog the first time will hear the various voices that make up this blog community. It is this variety which will in the end help make agloco strong – because we will all LEARN.

2,000 Agloco Sign Ups

Today I surpassed the 2,000 member mark in my Agloco
network. At the time of writing, I've a total of 2,028 members :
Direct Referrals--218
Extended Referrals--1,810
Total no. of Referrals--2,028

The growth of Agloco membership has been phenomenal since
its inception 3 months ago. Based on the latest member I.D.
(BBCHxxxx) I'd estimate that the total number of Agloco
members has exceeded 300,000.

There has been even more news, talks and discussions going
on everyday over the internet. The blogosphere has been
busy as more and more bloggers are joining Agloco.

The Agloco Official Company Blog
continues to be the
main center of active discussions among members and the
Development Team.

Today, I've also come across Harold's latest article on Agloco,
like to quote it here to share with you :

Harold on "An AGLOCO for All Members"
:
AGLOCO is a ‘big’ idea. What I mean by that is that AGLOCO
must attract a big community to be effective. By their own
standards the creators of AGLOCO have stated they want a
community of at least 10,000,000 members. (Seems like a
big number but it is just about 1% of the current Internet
population.)

Oh don’t get me wrong, I think they can be profitable at

500,000 or so. But to really be the Internet Revolution I and

others think they can be, they need to be 10,000,000 on their

way to 100,000,000.

AGLOCO is still a pre-launch company (yes they have an
enormous amount of publicity for a pre-launch Internet
startup coming out of Stanford University – but they only
announced their existence four months ago). Much focus has
been on AGLOCO member growth and the AGLOCO referral
system. It has been stated by AGLOCO that less than 20%
of AGLOCO members will ever have a referral and less than
5% will ever have many referrals.

So, AGLOCO is much like a big tree with lots of leaves –
regular members represented by the leaves. Like any tree, it
will only flourish if the leaves are healthy.

To do that AGLOCO must appeal to a large segment of the
world’s internet population. Let’s see what their chances look
like.

Cost /ease of being a regular AGLOCO member.

• Free – no cost to join or maintain Membership – software
is free
• Joining takes less than 2 minutes.
• Viewbar takes up a small amount of the desktop while surfing
• All information private – so no cost there
• No spam (a once a month AGLOCO update email appears to
be the total email incursion.)
• Viewbar can be turned off anytime with one click – no spyware

Conclusion – cost to regular members is very low.

Benefits of being a regular AGLOCO member

• Some utility (probably not as much as the Google or Yahoo
toolbars)
• Income from monthly surfing - $50 to $100 a year
(smaller in first year)
• Income from affiliate rebates (discounts etc. - varies by person
greatly - but the biggest users of the Internet would get the
most benefits)
• Income from being an owner – could be more than $100 if a
regular member is an early joiner.

Conclusion – a small but reasonable amount of cash income
plus positive value of software utility.

Based on this very quick look at AGLOCO’s leaves, they should
be very happy. They do almost nothing and get something
(even $50 a year is infinitely more than any other software is
paying them).

As the AGLOCO economic network grows over time, the
amount of utility should increase as well as the actual cash
economic dividends. This should mean the leaves stay green
and the AGLOCO tree continues to grow healthy.

I do think that AGLOCO is a good idea for ALL Members
